Dil Bechara
Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie, Dil Bechara which was originally titled Kizie and Manny, is based on the novel The Fault in Our Stars, which is a story of love, hope, and endless memories. The film features late Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Sanjana Sanghi in lead roles and released for free on Disney+ Hotstaron July 24.
Dil Bechara was headed for an OTT release even before the lockdown was announced. With Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death, there is renewed interest in this love story.
Laxmi Bomb
Laxmi Bomb is the horror-comedy directed by Raghava Lawrence, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the leading characters. Laxmi Bomb is a remake of the Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana and is all about a man possessed by the ghost of a transgender-person. The first look grabbed a lot of eyeballs, where Akshay is seen draped in a saree, dressing up as a woman. The film was supposed to hit the theatres on June 5 but then headed for a digital release on Disney+ Hotstar. Led by Akshay, this might become one of the best Bollywood films to watch this year.
Shakuntala Devi
Another Bollywood film joining the list of biopics this season is Shakuntala Devi, starring Vidya Balan as the protagonist. This biographical drama revolves around the journey of the real-life genius Shakuntala Devi, popularly known as the ‘human computer’. She was also a great mathematician, writer, and astrologer. Alongside the incredible Vidya Balan, Sanya Malhotra, Jisshu Sengupta, and Amit Sadh will also be playing important roles. Earlier slated to hit the silver screens, the makers had to postpone it due to the pandemic. As a result, the film is now set for a digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
Gulabo Sitabo
Gulabo, Sitabo: Ek priceless Jodi is all about the story of a quirky family and their day-to-day struggles in a comical way. This Shoojit Sircar film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan as the leading characters, has been released on Amazon Prime Video. For the first time, the audience will get to witness the magic of a veteran superstar and our very own favorite powerhouse performer Ayushmann. This, indeed, is a priceless Jodi and we are very excited to watch them together onscreen.
Sadak 2
29 years after Mahesh Bhatt brought his iconic film, Sadak, to the big screen, starring Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles, he is presenting a sequel this year in the form of Sadak 2. The sequel will feature Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt along with a new pair Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur.
The film also marks Mahesh Bhatt’s return as a director after 20 years. He recently told the media that he’s compelled to release it online on a digital platform.
